Dr. Boli finds it hard to imagine a well-dressed Islamic lady or gentleman in such a fruity bonnet. He does not accept as a principle that any culture is exempt from mockery, but as a practical matter he does not mock Islamic culture very often—not because he believes it possesses a unique dignity, but because he finds so much more to mock closer to home. Doubtless if he lived in Karachi or Jakarta he would take a very different view of things; but for now, he is content to point out the beams in our own eyes before he goes looking for motes elsewhere.
