Gabriel Reynolds, assistant professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, writes us:
First Things might have some interest in the international conference on the Qur’an that is opening tonight at Notre Dame. Among others both Nasr Hamid Abū Zayd and Abdolkarim Sorroush will be speaking. In fact, this is the first time that Abū Zayd and Sorroush have ever appeared together.
Also speaking will be Christoph Luxenberg (famous for his theory that Muslim martyrs will receive grapes not virgins) and Gerd Puin (famous for his work with the mysterious Qur’an fragments discovered in Yemen).
