A new study has theorized that human beings are more closely related to orangutans than chimps.  Perhaps, but does it really matter–at least from a moral perspective? I say no.  I explain why over at Secondhand Smoke.

    Why is genetics the proper level of comparison? If the comparison were made at the level of physics, the similarities would be 100%, as it would be between me and the door.

    Perhaps we can take it up a notch to something like this: ability to grasp universals. On that level the differences between a human and a chimp is astronomical.
