A (probable) satire out of Claremont McKenna College urges that euthanasia be legalized as a form of health care cost contanment. Alas, the Smith Maxim on Satire and the Culture of Death, which holds that no parody can be sufficiently far out to escape the reality, holds true.  Killing the sick to save money has already appeared in Oregon’s assisted suicide regimen and is an ever-lurking argument in the euthanasia debate. For more, check out Secondhand Smoke. And parody or not, the commenters at the original post approve. Culture of death, Wesley? What culture of death?

This fits in with Rep. Pelosi’s statement that abortions would cut costs for the state governments. I believe she was serious as she said that.

No doubt. And she would, I believe, support assisted suicide too. And health care rationing.
