In a fairly strong display of solidarity, the US Bishops have issued a statement supporting Bishop John D’Arcy’s recent “pastoral concern” regarding President Obama’s appearance at Notre Dame:
“The bishops of the United States express our appreciation and support for our brother bishop, the Most Reverend John D’Arcy,” reads the brief statement from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
“We affirm his pastoral concern for Notre Dame University, his solicitude for its Catholic identity, and his loving care for all those the Lord has given him to sanctify, to teach and to shepherd.”
As John Allen reports, the Bishops were not exactly unanimous in their sentiments regarding the controversy, but it seems that most had some level of disagreement with the University.
Baby steps. Baby steps.

Ah, leave it to the bishops to express solidarity regarding “Notre Dame University,” which does not exist (or, if it does, at least has never caused scandal granting an honorary degree to the president). Why should anyone trust them on large matters, when they prove themselves incompetent on small things? Surely it is objectively a mortal sin to go about one’s vocation with such sloppiness that one does not even bother to name the target of one’s condemnation correctly.

Good grief! Do not even the bishops know the proper name of the University of Notre Dame?

Pedants. You know very well which university they were talking about.
For its part, the University of Notre Dame should reflect more deeply on the nature of Our Lady, who, finding herself in a certain situation, is well-known for saying Yes.
I have little doubt as to what she thinks of Mr. Obama and his complete submission to the likes of Planned Parenthood.
