I think Mrs. Jackson is right. Assuming that national socialist health care and the economy termination climate bills go down in flames, Obama will be forced to play the role of the pragmatic moderate, much like Clinton starting in 1995. Or, he could focus on international issues, where he is actually doing a decent job. Given all of this and if the economy improves by '12 (which I think it will), he could very well be re-elected.

The key is if Obama is willing to give up Obamanomics and the whole leftwing agenda and be content with being a corrupt Chicago politician. In other words, can he be like Clinton? Its not clear to me if he can let go like that.

"Unless that changes quite radically—and I don’t think it will—we can expect to have him around until 2016. Obamism may be falling out of favor, but the brand called Obama is still very popular."

If Obamaism is falling out of favor and does truly fall out favor, then the only way we will have Obama around until 2016 is if Obama is willing to throw Obamaism under the bus to save Obama.

(Say that 5 times fast)

Bill Clinton ran to the middle to save himself and earn another term - with a Republican Congress. It remains to be seen if Obama would/could do the same.
