Kudos to our geeky President for delivering this clever line while presenting his “Educate to Innovate” campaign, which aims to promote the development of student inventors:

As President, I believe that robotics can inspire young people to pursue science and engineering.

And I want to keep an eye on those robots in case they try anything.

He’s no John Connor, but at least Obama has seen enough movies to know what could happen if he’s not paying attention.

The post itself is clever. My concern is with the adjective “geeky” which is out of line on a site supposedly striving for civility in public discourse. Is this still a goal?

What’s wrong with “geeky?” In my circles that’s a compliment.

I yield to your more current information. This confirms my status (in the company of C. S. Lewis for consolation) as an anthropological specimen: “Old Western Man”.

Just to clarify, I’m using “geeky” in the “type of person who loves sci-fi movies” and not in the historical “carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts” sense.

    Oh, good. Happy Thanksgiving.
