At Christianity Today, Sarah Pulliam Bailey talks to Brit Hume about faith, the media, and Tiger Woods:
Is Christianity welcome in the media?
No. Christianity is scorned by many in the media.
Did you see that before you made this statement?
Sure. Think of how many times we’ve seen an athlete interviewed on the sidelines of a football game who says he owes it all to God or owes it all to Christ, and the weird silence that greets those statements. People are uncomfortable with it. People don’t want to talk about it. Politicians who proclaim their faith, the next question is about something else.

Good job Brit. I am proud of you. Tiger does not have to take your advice but at least you had the courage to send the message.

Brit Hume: I hate to repeat what others have said, but you are definitely my HERO! No other word to describe how I feel. Thank you for your courage (which shouldn’t be an issue in America), and for standing up for Jesus. The last I heard, this is still a free country, but it is unusual to hear someone express their Christian beliefs in the media. I hope that Tiger Woods and others who do not know the compassionate forgiveness and gift of eternal life that Jesus Christ offers will give ear. You were trying to offer him hope, not harm, as so many are trying to imply you are doing to all other religions. There will be a great reward for you in heaven if not on earth. So hold your head up high as others throw “rocks” at you!

I can’t help but think, as I just heard someone say, that were Tiger a Christian and had Brit Hume recommended he try Buddhism, quite a few less feathers would have been ruffled.

I have many sports heroes-A C Green and Tony Dungy are two. I never thought I’d have a newscaster hero. God bless Brit.

Way to go Brit! You are a true example of a Christian standing up for Christ. When faced with the opportunity, how many actually use it. Thank you for standing up for my Lord and Savior. You are going out on a high note. God bless you. We will be praying for you as you take heat for simply speaking the TRUTH!
