Note to South Carolinians #1: You may want to skip this one.
Note to South Carolinians #2: No offense is intended by the posting of this clip. I am very fond of your state. In fact, I used to live in SC and my daughter was born in Beaufort. Nevertheless, I have to ask: What in the world where ya’ll thinking?

This is indeed a great story, but I’m astonished at all the head-scratching and finger-pointing. Greene’s opponent actually hired an investigator to determine how he lost. Isn’t it obvious? ALvin Greene vs. Vic Rawl — what self-respecting voter would cast a ballot for someone named Vic Rawl, especially when they could vote for the man who sang “Let’s Stay Together” and “You Oughta Be with Me”?

On the local news here, they interviewed a woman who voted for greene. She thought he was the singer!

Obviously, a protest vote; when will they give us the “None of the above” option this country so badly needs? There are times when I would have voted for Adolph Hitler in preference to the evil reptiles presented for the consideration of the voters by the political establishment; there should be a way in which the people can clearly say to their political masters “You may give us garbage, but we don’t have to eat it”. Unfortunately, the current system is clearly designed to force people to eat the nice garbage that has been provided for them.
I read somewhere that a survey was taken in which people were asked which newsman was currently in the place formerly held by Walter Cronkite as the most trusted and esteemed figure, and most people responded “Jon Stewart”. That in itself would seem a pretty savage indictment; it would seem that politics in this Country is no longer worthy of anything higher than a burlesque treatment.
