For those of you who missed last week’s opportunity, now’s your last chance! We need a one-liner to go under the FT logo on a t-shirt, and we’d love to hear your ideas. Winner of the best caption gets a free t-shirt!

Send us your suggestions, along with your name and address, to contest@firstthings.com.

Somehow First Things readers don’t seem like they would be t-shirt people. (I think the captions suggested in the other blog validate that.) I think Joe Carter has cautioned us against wearing ironic clothing….

    Here’s a few:

“Want To Poke Fun At Liturgical Puppetry? Our Blog Has Videos!”

“Catholics And Protestants Getting Along With Jews And Not Asking Why No Jewish University Has A Decent Football Team”

“And You Thought You Were Well-Informed”

“Less Catholic Than The Pope, More So Than, Say, Gary Wills”

    I’ve got a million of ‘em….

    One more:

“Spare The Sarcasm And Spoil The Heterodox”

I’ll be waiting by the mailbox for my free t-shirt….

Does this “second chance” thread mean the suggestions in the other thread weren’t good enough?

Adam Baker. Wasn’t that iconic clothing Joe was speaking of?

A take on Craig Payne’s: “Where Faith and Culture Collide”.

A take on Althea’s: “Somewhere between God and Gomorrah”.

    “In the beginning…..”

“Fighting the Pharisee in each of us”

“And you thought He didn’t have a sense of humor”.

    J’s Crew

    “Religion to a Tee”

“Take this shirt…I’ll give you my coat!” (This one could be expensive…like being a Christian!)

“I’m naked in the public square under this shirt”

“I forget are we liberal or conservative”

By the way…this is just a but of fun, I do not suggest you use any of my captions. I am also a bit leery of a FT t-shirt all together.

p.s. My last caption should read…

“I forget…are we liberal or conservative?”

    (okay, now I know I’ve overdosed on posts about Anne Rice . . . though I have been thinking that “Anti-Undead” might make a decent t-shirt slogan, too . . . )

Kate – you beat me to it!

    I like:

    FIRST THINGS
    …first.

And I like the idea of using the artwork now appearing on the covers.

    But, I’d prefer a book bag to a t-shirt!

This one has actually been used on a t-shirt (I think by “National Review”), but it’s my fave of all time, based on a key point in Eric Voegelin’s political philosophy:

Don’t let THEM immanentize the eschaton.
