Thank you for sharing your amazing story with us. How wonderful to have met Sorensen in person. I would love to see Thirteen Days, especially since reading your about your experience with it. Sorensen would not talk about the day Kennedy was assassinated and I can imagine the deep sorrow he must have felt. I also just read a memoir about JFK's former secret service agents called, "The Kennedy Detail," by Gerald Blaine. The agents also had a close personal interaction with the Kennedy family and suffered a deep sense of loss, regret and guilt after the assassination. Their story is very eye opening and touching.

Tim,

I knew Mr. Sorensen, and on our last face-to-face visit (in February of 2010) he and I spoke about THIRTEEN DAYS, and how pleased he was with how it turned out. He recalled joking with Robert McNamara, at the premiere, about various lines given to Costner's Kenny O'Donnell that were really Ted's, but was otherwise a fan of the film (he thought you were wonderful, and that Greenwood's JFK was uncanny; I agree on both counts).

Thank you for sharing this story, and for treating Ted with such respect; he truly did inspire awe in those who knew him, even when his sight had failed him and he was no longer charging into chill autumn afternoons without a coat. The Ted I knew was unable to move through unfamiliar spaces without help; but I was proud and deeply honored to have lent him my arm when needed.

Thanks again, Tim. This was a wonderful story, and very well told.
