Although I am sympathetic with the Tea Party movement, I have not been sufficiently involved to consider myself a member. Last month, to learn more, I attended a local Tea Party meeting for the first time. The guest speaker mixed economic and social issues in her talk. Although some qualified there questions by, "I know the Tea Party is about small government but I want to ask about . . .", the discussion after was more about social issues than economic ones. This may have reflected the speaker's talk, but there was little reluctance from the audience to discuss social issues.

As side note, the audience was predominantly white but, given where I live, probably not evangelical, most likely Catholic or Lutheran.
