Yeah, Bush Derangement Syndrome was in fact real, and the MSM was completely overrun with it. Some gave in to more bizarre paranoid fantasies than others, like this particular piece. But the infestation was widespread to a degree that will be hard to believe in coming years. In fact it will be whitewashed away completely, so I think your quaint notion that “permanent damage to the organization’s reputation” is at stake is delusional. (Do you remember that Mark Shea, who we’re all supposed to take seriously, actually spent multiple posts and a huge amount of comment-responding effort on the risible notion that US forces in Iraq were throwing Iraqi prisoners out of airplanes?)
