“Good Samaritans will always be needed to succour those who are assaulted and robbed; yet it would be even better to rid the Jerusalem-Jericho road of brigands.”
Paul Ramsey, of course, repeatedly made a similar point, arguing for the use of force, even lethal force, to rid the road of brigands. Question: should the PUBLIC USE OF FORCE, even lethal force when necessary to "rid the road of brigands" be considered an act of "social justice"? If so, would the pacifist opposition to all such uses of force be considered an act of "social injustice"?

Matthew, thanks so much for this. I will read Stott's book now, thanks to your work here. I was in London recently and met a couple of very impressive Evangelicals who work -- alas, worked -- closely with Stott and his organization. Listening to them talk made me curious about this obviously great man, John Stott, of whom I, as a non-Evangelical, had never heard. More's the pity for me -- but now I have the opportunity to learn about him. Again, thanks.
