Will someone explain to me why it is that no one ever mentions Fr. Donald Keefe, S.J. as a major 20th century Catholic Theologian? Does the magisterial and excellent two volume Covenantal Theology not qualify? There are those of us who hope that someday he will be named Doctor of the Eucharist.

I think the book is already available. At the Fordham University Press website, the publication date is listed as September 1, 2011. Is that "2012" on the Amazon page a typographical error?

The Legacy and its companion volume, Church and Society, are indispensable to anyone interested in Cardinal Dulles's work. He was remarkable for his range and his lucidity. If you want a better understanding of the Church, of what it thinks and of how it thinks, read Dulles.

I really enjoyed his short autobiography/conversion story. It is unlike many of the conventional stories that are big on emotion or Biblical proofs. He was a different sort of person, and so his conversion (no less profound) was of a different sort. Readers of a certain bent may find that a good introduction to his work, because they will be able to ground it in an understanding of the man, his character, and his mind.
