Yeah, she was the cute-as-can-be gal in the one great Will Farrell movie, Elf .  Also in Almost Famous , early on as the hip sister who becomes a stewardess.

The commenters at Big Hollywood are happy about Zooey’s rendition of national anthem at the World Series—not her first time at that sort of gig, but what tickles (and annoys) quasi-hipster me is that none of these red meat baseball-lovin’ conservatives seem to know that Ms. Deschanel is in a cool contemporary group called She & Him, where her pipes and taste are put to good California mid-60s (or even mid-40s) mellow use, with of course a lot of credit going to her genius musical partner M. Ward. So here’s a few song links. The first album is very much worth purchasing, and “Thieves” alone makes up for the lesser beauty of the second.
