The debated lacked CLASS. None of the candidates was presidential—a combination of CLASS and COMPETENCE.

Perry was more lively but rude and not particularly smart.

Romney, Pete is right to say, seemed impatient and contemptuous of the somewhat unfairly personal and incompetent attacks on him. He, as usual, was comptetent, but fell short of classy.

Gingrich was vainly eloquent and put himself above the fray—that is, in some undisclosed location outside the real presidential rate.

Santorum was out of control—some competence but even less class than Perry.

Cain was, in fact, classy, but exhibited no real competence at all. He was wounded, but not fatally. His only chance is to detach Herman the person from the 9s.

All in all, a great night for the Democrats—their main hope is that the Republicans don’t have an adequate candidate.
