We’re pleased to inform our online readers that William Doino will become the newest regular columnist for the First Things website. Doino is a writer on Church history, particularly issues of the twentieth century, including the papacy of Pius XII and the Second Vatican Council. He is widely recognized as a shrewd analyst of contemporary Church politics, thought, and trends, and has contributed to Inside the Vatican, EWTN, Public Discourse, and many other publications.
His first regular column, which appears today, discusses the serenity of Vatican II’s “vital center” amid contested and competing interpretations of the Council. Though not previously a regular, he has written for First Things on a more-than-sporadic basis before, and an archive of his older work is available (On the Square columns; First Thoughts blog posts) for you to peruse. Beginning today, his writing will appear every other Monday.

Looking forward to reading Mr. Doino’s articles! I’ve read him before on Public Discourse and I know he’ll make a fine addition to First Things.
