To clarify your ambiguous statement, the “catastrophic fallout” would be due to the (foreseeable) dissolution of an ill-conceived and unsustainable monetary union, rather than from any “localist dream” outcome per se.

I’m guessing that’s what you meant, since it’d obviously be unfair to blame localist ideals (as such) for the EU.
