By coincidence Ms. Faludi attempted to contact me this week via a third party on LinkedIn. She's writing an article on the recently-deceased Shulamith Firestone. My encounters with Ms. Firestone were brief as a young associate editor in New York. But what marked them was the writer's extreme state of paranoia which mental illness may have contributed to (she was then what was called a "bag lady"). There may be no conspiracies but there are cultural dispositions and ideas that continue to weaken, even poison, our institutions. Feminism is just such a disposition, but it is only a variation of leftism. It never had indigenous imagination. Unless crazy but well-remunerated theories count. I can't help but be reminded here of all the intelligence, all the words, all the insights, all the energy expended countering the toxins of the left.
