Now I've read it, and I love it! I'm so glad I read this review and was persuaded to read the book. It's a lot of fun and cleverly written, but more importantly it shows that philosophy is actually, you know, relevant to "real" life. Who knew? I've published my own review on my blog, A Catholic Reader (http://acatholicreader.blogspot.com).

As a former classmate of Rebecca Bratten at the University of Dallas, I loyally downloaded the Kindle sample of this book when it was first made available, but I didn't get past page 2 because -- yuck, chick lit. (Sorry, Rebecca ... I was a literature student.)

After reading this review, I'm giving it another chance. Yup, just downloaded the full Kindle version, because I remember all those stuffy young men (philosophy and politics students, most of them) being impossibly pompous and would like an opportunity to laugh at them ... in aid of a good cause. Also, because the favorable David Lodge comparison really sold me.
