Please note the connection between this new scandal and his relationship with Denise Joseph:

“Sain alleges that D’Souza’s current wife was involved in various aspects of the production of the movie at the same time as he was involved with Joseph and introduced her as his ‘assistant.’ On information and belief, D’Souza continued the ruse that Joseph was his ‘assistant’ in order to justify spending OAF [Obama's America Foundation] funds on Joseph that were intended for the movie production and exploitation,” the complaint states.

By the way, “Sain” is Sain Communications, Inc., a managing member (along with D’souza) of Obama’s America Foundation, the studio that produced 2016.

This was not an issue to be entertained at an institution seeking to pass on Christian values. I agree that transparency was essential for this resolution. Now the matter can return to whatever discretion is best for all.

By: ChevalierdeJohnstone http://www.firstthings.com/blogs/firstthoughts/2012/10/18/dinesh-dsouza-resigns/comment-page-1/#comment-77343 ChevalierdeJohnstone Sun, 21 Oct 2012 01:09:58 +0000 http://www.firstthings.com/blogs/firstthoughts/?p=49503#comment-77343 There are many incorrect facts in the comments here.

1) D’Souza said clearly that he and Ms. Joseph slept in separate rooms. There was no sneakliy vague parsing of “did not share a room [in Charlotte]“. He clearly says they are not having an affair. Either he is lying about this or he is not, but there is no room for misinterpretation of his statements. Also, there is no evidence that he is lying.

2) D’Souza is not Catholic. He considers himself a nondenominational Christian. We may wish he was Catholic, because American Catholic figures these days seem more likely to speak at Obama conventions where a majority of participants vocally support infanticide. Maybe this is why D’Souza doesn’t consider himself Catholic.

3) D’Souza says that his wife asked him for a separation two years ago, which he granted. Since that time, while still legally married to his wife, there is no evidence that he had sex with any other woman. For those of you who are obtuse, there are many opportunities to engage in sexual venality for a man of D’Souza’s fame.

4) He said he and Denise Joseph were “engaged”. He also said they had not had sex. There is no legal definition of “engaged”. If some Christians believe there to be a religious definition of “engaged”, clearly D’Souza does not share this viewpoint. He certainly would not have had any sort of official betrothal as sanctioned by the Church – since he’s not Catholic.

5) He says he and Denise Joseph met 3 months ago. Thus the timing of this “revelation” to coincide with the release of his movie and the election is extraordinarily suspect.

In conclusion, the facts as we know them are that D’Souza has been a tireless supporter of moral Christianity in a field in which he would have far more options, prestige, and monetary success were he to toe the secular party line. Furthermore he has, as far as we know, not had sexual relations with any woman other than his wife while married to her. He is, apparently, in love with another woman who returns that love, but has not had sex with her. He and Denise Joseph expressed their intent to become married to each other after D’Souza legally divorced his wife: such plans are not illegal.

And yet many so-called “Christians” are eager to jump on the media bandwagon and sigh with crocodile tears that they hope D’Souza will learn…

What? What, exactly? That you can’t even trust your fellow “Christians” to have your back after devoting years of your life to defending Christianity against the very people who have engaged in a systematic (and successful) attempt to demean and destroy your public image?

Y’all ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Compare and contrast, if you can, the significance of the crimes against American ideals and principals committed by Obama (which will affect many future generations); and this punitive effort to smear Mr. D’Souza’s reputation based on his marital status. Can you really say there is any relationship at all? I appreciate any patriotic effort to save this country, even when the cost of such patriotism is sure and swift retribution. That is the definition of bravery, in my mind.

It is best to just have a few people but the truth was preached and practiced.

It smacks of not so veiled anti Catholicism.

Clearly, you have a very one-sided definition of that term, then.

Fri, 19 Oct 2012 12:49:57 +0000 http://www.firstthings.com/blogs/firstthoughts/?p=49503#comment-77283 Well, it may not be casting a stone, as much as giving him and many others , in similar situations , an occasion for the grace of joyful repentance , trusting in God’s mercy ,in the midst of the pain , on behalf of themselves and others .

It might even open the door for him, to reconcile with The Church and with his family again , look deep and broad , into all areas he need to / can repent , which would include , all in his former family of King’s college ( a place , which , like many other college campuses , possibly had young people, who needed to be repented for , esp. in the very same related area ! ) ; he can repent , on behalf of the President and the nation and thus be an avenue ,in taking up the mission of this very foundational grace , for a Christian !

He could joyfully discover how The Church helps the best, in this grace, of repenting to the broadest and deepest extent , through confession, teachings and guidlines and devotions , such as that to Divine mercy as well as the Liturgy ; he could look more into areas , such as contraception, that possibly played a part, in the idolatry of selfishness an dall that comes with it, in order to be a tool to alert people, into repentance !

Meanwhile, we can repent on his behalf and for many others , in similar sitautions , including even ancestors of us all too !
