I used to have this exact same opinion.  And I have had quite a few friends with Pits over my last 15 years in Chicago&#039;s dog parks, all fine dogs.  But...

Each of these owners except one cannot take their dogs to the dog park and let them off leash.  Their dogs love other dogs and want to play, but when two or three dogs are wrestling, the pits often start fighting and draw blood.  This is why most pit owners don&#039;t take their dog to the dog parks.  

That doesn&#039;t mean someone shouldn&#039;t get a Pitbull, but like any breed there are characteristics particular to that breed that any owner should know about going in.]]></description>
