Ummm with the recent changes to “don’t ask don’t tell” I hope they will also be targeting the posters objectifying the male physique that undoubtedly are hanging in some guy’s or “gal’s” workspace…just sayin’

One of my friends is a pin-up gal and sends calendars to the troops and a fund raiser. A large amount of the money she raises goes to VA hospitals. As a female and a photographer, I believe all of her work is tasteful and for a good cause.

I am currently serving on Active Duty in the Air Force in a medical unit. By the time it got to us the message was ‘remove anything that anyone might find offensive’. Medical is a microcounterculture in the Air Force. We don’t have any pinups that I know of. But maybe someone will have removed some of the magazines from waiting areas, with scantily clad women on the cover.

I don’t know if this policy will have any impact on lessening the number of sexual assaults on women. However, this statement seems to be one of things that should be needless to say:

“Pictures of scantily clad women in calendars, posters or in briefing slides have no place in a professional workplace, said Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh”
