From the Philadelphia Inquirer:
A Mennonite-owned cabinetmaker has filed a federal suit charging that the Affordable Care Act’s mandate on contraception coverage violates its constitutional rights.
Conestoga Wood Specialties, citing the principles of religious freedom on which William Penn founded Pennsylvania, says in its suit, filed in U.S. District Court, that to accord to its Mennonite beliefs, it would be “sinful and immoral for the company to participate in, pay for, facilitate or otherwise support any contraception” that would have the effect of an abortion.
Founded in 1964, the privately held company has factories in Beavertown, Pennsylvania; Beaver Springs, Pennsylvania; East Earl, Pennsylvania; Kenly, North Carolina; Mountain View, Arkansas; Jacksonville, Arkansas; Tooele, Utah; and Kent, Washington.

Unfortunately, these are conservative, “unaffiliated” Mennonites. You can rest assured that “mainstream” Mennonites are fully on board Obama’s political and social agenda. (“Mainstream” in the previous sentence should be read with all the connotations of that word in the phrase, say, “mainstream Episcopalians” or “mainstream Presbyterians”.)

Although most might be onboard with the mandate I was pretty sure a good deal of Mennonites were socially conservative. It’s also a “peace church” so I think they wouldn’t be onboard with drones or any military actions under Obama.

@Thomas R, on “peace churches” and drones:
Politics does make odd bedfellows, does it not?
