I knew it was Mort Walker, but the old Cardinal pitcher Mort Cooper might have snuck into my head. I was a kid when Miss Buxley was introduced into the comic strip, and at that time she was a dumb blonde. Walker might have thought better of it after some years — he’d long been in the gunsights of the feminists.
