Yes, the God Helmet works. The rumors to the contrary come from a poorly-done experiment. I looked up the author on pubmed, and found that it was the first publication by a psychologist, not a neuro-scientist, and that the God Helmet's primary researcher had published a strong rebuttal both in a science journal and online here: www.innerworlds.50megs.com/The_God_Helmet_Debate.htm

I've been reading about this, and I find that the skeptics love talking about the amaturish experiment, but never mention what a hack job it was, or that it has been debunked, or that the original research team published a reply.

Some people just can't tolerate any talk of god, from the brain or from the cosmos.

We are so overwelmingly drenched in a materialistic naturalistic metaphysical view of reality in intellectual circles these days, that it's considered utter fantasy for anyone to question whether we may be more than billions of neurons forever cemented in a skull. But what if the fantasy, the pure delusion, is that we're just matter destined to lose that small light of consciousness, and remain for most of the time the universe exists unconscious? Near Death Experiences provide evidence for the proposition that this black and white materialism is a mirage, and the full rich reality that we're soul and body exists, in all its brilliant color.
