View the “50 Most Extraordinary Churches of the World” here.

And don’t tell me you don’t have at least one semi-extraordinary church near you.

I wonder what the Panda’s criteria for choosing churches was. There were some notable exceptions–Mont St. Michel being one of the most obvious–but some of the buildings were fascinating. I love the ones that are built into rocks.

It’s rather horrifying how many hideous Catholic churches there are. I think I prefer the Shell Church to some of them.

Sally, do you remember when we visited the adoration chapel at Belmont, I said it reminded me of a chapel we had visited in Arkansas? Well, #49 is the one.

Yep, I know the one. I’ve never been to it, but I’ve read about it and seen pictures.

I think maybe this was meant to be a list of off-the-beaten-path extraordinary churches — more or less, anyway. I mean, if you live in Iceland, a church in Iceland isn’t off *your* beaten path, but it’s maybe not the first church the rest of the world thinks of.

I just thought it was a fascinating miscellany. Bored Panda collects all kinds of interesting images, some more suitable for a family audience than others. If you click the “via Bored Panda” link in the Theological Error post, it takes you to a series of trompe-l’oeil sidewalk-chalk drawings by an English artist living in Belgium. Very fun.

Yeah, I’ve seen those sidewalk pictures before. They are amazing. The child on the edge of the roof of a skyscraper just scares me to death, even though I know she’s in no danger.

There was a link to some pretty amazing lego structures there, too.

But then, if we’re talking Lego and extraordinary churches, we have to go here:

    You promised and you delivered!

Very interesting pictures and I can’t help marveling the love that these people had for God.

    Congratulation Sally!
