James. Enjoyed the review of Wolfe’s book. You point out that the book doesn’t do what it intends to do, but in its failure of separating liberalism from progressivism it ends up pointing to an older, not entirely discredited, version of conservatism found in American Protestantism. Too bad Wolfe has such a clouded understanding of conservatism–for instance, to him it’s all Americanized Carl Schmitt.
