Tip-o-the-hat to Salem, Oregon’s resident conservative, Mr. Bill Parsons, for alerting me to Dr. Angelo M. Codevilla’s essay, America’s Ruling Class — And the Perils of Revolution :
http://spectator.org/archives/2010/07/16/americas-ruling-class-and-the/print
This remarkable essay is an examination and analysis of the contemporary political crisis. It may be the most important political essay of our generation. The clash between what Professor Codevilla defines as the “ruling class” and the “country class” is best observed in the rise of the so-called Tea Party. The result of that contest remains to be determined, however, it is evident that more and more ‘regular’ people are getting tired of finding themselves in reduced circumstances while being manipulated by a ‘ruling class’ that mocks the intrinsic tenets of republicanism.

The silence regarding this article, on this website, tells all. It would seem to me that the neo-conservative, post modern nit-picker enjoys their out-lier, aridly intellectual status. Let us admonish up to a point that does not impede the progress of empire.
The problem of ressentiment is not that it
occurs , it is that certain mal-informed people think they can manage it safely from the sidelines. They think that if they sustain their calculated relationships with the prevailing power, they can continue to agitate , in a sporting manner, preserving those institutions that maintain their sedate existence upon this fatty land. We could call this kind of pre-meditated bunk :Popular Revolution but in the end, it is just another of those mental hijinks that provide the necessary excuses for maintaining the powers de jeur.
The Tea Party is a yawp against empire. Unfortunately, the greatest minds of the era stubbornly think an American Empire is still American.

Our friend, Mr. Sabin, is one of the most brilliant interlocutors on the internet. When DW writes, people read. I love the dude!
And, while I do not have a problem with his insightful, truly intellectual, and sharp rebuke/criticism of the Neoconservative leadership on the PoMoCon site (they can, surely, speak for themselves!), he doth cross the line when he refers to the Tea Party people efforts as a “yawp against empire.”
I would remind Mr Sabin and his coterie of ‘porchers’ that should TP candidates capture significant seats in the House and Senate, the texture if not the face of the GOP will begin to change.
I do believe this election represents the middle of the political tsunami. The top wave of the upheaval comes in ’12 and we are not yet able to do much speculation.
My point is, that while both the PoMoCons and libral/socialists of the Front Porch continue to criticize the TPers, we must understand that the TP objectives, at least for now, are to get gummint spending under control, replace the radical leftist Democrats and Neo/RINO Republicans with Americans.
Now, how bad is that?
