1. For those who have expressed a kind of Porcher concern that I would die if snowed in, be reassured that, because the power stayed on, I have survived. It’s true that I lack Porcher/motorcycle maintenance skills, but they probably won’t be missed this time. The private road outside my hillside home (Tea Partiers be aware–I don’t cotton to those discredited government roads) is impassable, and there’s no reason to believe that it will get much better for the next few below-freezing days. But we have food and heat, and classes don’t start for two days (and I may think of something–employ sophisticated mental labor–before then).
2. Also be aware–there’s Darwinian and Darwinian Larry stuff by ME here–including a link to an interesting response by Larry.

I’m so proud! Just like the most sincere porcher you’ve expanded your autonomous self to the point where you’ve properly prepared for bad weather.
Next you’ll be splitting your own wood, looking up the dates for gun shows, and joining the local militia. But, that could be the result of reading Darwin or Larry?

Peter, while snowed in, check out the worthy meditations on Bruce Springsteen at Baseball Crank.
Of course, don’t listen to any Boss while snowed in…you need something sparkling and meditative…I recommend piano sonatas, or perhaps Vince Guaraldi’s “Skating” from the Charlie Brown Christmas LP. Alison Krauss also sounds good.
