Or, as you suggest, perhaps a few 2 minute ads featuring Ryan’s congenial manner will suffice to tell the truth.

They might be best as web ads, otherwise people will change the channel. On the web, the television media would at least have to address their content in 15 second bits. Then the president would have to address the issue too.
