in re: #4... that is part of what you have to answer if you want to consider Obama's cling to guns and God a gaffe.

No one really expects that much will happen to guns or abortion.

But the NRA and the NRL are still around...so they need issues. Talk about assult weapons bans, stimulates gun sales. (a thing Obama did in a roundabout way last time around).

My guess is actually that if Candy did pick and choose from questions sent in by voters...she weeded out a lot more questions about guns(pro-con), abortion(pro-con) and the legalization of marijuana.

Perhaps the real institutional bias is your reaction to #4.

Immagine a debate where the moderator/format didn't set the topic, but weighted the topics by volume. In this case #4 wouldn't be "over-weight" and the true bias in this debate would have been the lack of discussion on the legalization of marijuana.

Also I think "energy"/gas prices would have scored high...

It turns out the 47% cling to Guns, God, Energy and Pot. As a concrete idea I would toss in Salter Sink deployments, and promise to increase shrimp yields and end hurricanes.

"You can pick apart some of the answers Romney gave during the last two debates, but Romney has done as well as we could have reasonably hoped."

I suppose this is true, but it's a pity he's so hamstrung by his complete inability to attack TARP, ANYTHING specific about Obamacare, etc.

Absolutely correct on #4. And on #2--I still hold that if it was a "draw," it was one tilted in Republican favor.

I now concede #5, but still think the anti-Candy chorus is out of hand. If you want to attack Romney for agreeing to a debate moderated by the legacy media, fine, but the woman tried to do the right thing.

Let's all hope Pete's gut is wrong on #6.

Time permitting, more on #3 and #7 above.
