But reading Wilkerson, and developing some of my own thoughts below, and in the thread, has brought me to agree with Peter&#039;s point 8.  The stark classic injustice of slavery in some ways made it less of moral offense, or at least less of a psychological abuse, than the sneaking law-violating oppression of segregation.]]></description>
