Wesley J. Smith

I spoke last week at the Discovery Institute in Seattle on medical conscience clauses. I shared the dais with adult stem cell researcher, Dr. Theresa Deisher, one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit in which a judge found that federal funding of embryonic stem cell research violated federal law.  (She talked not about the lawsuit, but the potential of adult stem cells in therapies.)  If you would like to see either or both presentations–I’m the old guy with the “silver” beard and hair–and the Q and A session that followed, just hit this link.

What I basically got from your speach Wesley is that without a conscience clause, the only safe choices left in the future for U.S are Christian hypocracy and/or The Almighty Dollar so which one will Americans pick for their Dignaty conscience?

Some of what I got from the other speaker and to make a long story short was that Adult Stem Cells are OK especially in Europe VS. ESC which cost too much and ASC cause less trouble for Americans and if voters don’t smarten up, ESC could be legal by 2025 and she did a good job of convincing me that U.S voters should get out and vote against “IT” but with all due respect, how much of “IT” is because she works in that department sort of speak?

I’m really trying Wesley but the way I see “IT” don’t we still need Divine Cell Help?

I hear ya! Where did you learn your two step dance Victor? :)

    Peace

    Wesley J. Smith Reply:

Well, it seems to me that without conscience clauses, some of the best medical professionals will be forced to choose between their moral convictions and their professions. I think that would not only be bad for them, but for patients who want doctors to value each and every human life equally.

    I like the twist better.
