The Animal Liberation Front likes to compare itself to Martin Luther King and Ghandi. PETA calls them the moral equivalent of the French Resistance and the Underground Railroad.
Yup, those example really popped into my mind when I read that some ALF terrorists sent what they said were HIV-tainted razor blades to a UCLA animal researcher. From the story:
The FBI and University of California at Los Angeles police are investigating a new round of threats from anti-animal research activists who say they sent AIDS-tainted razor blades and a threatening message to a research professor, a university spokesman said Tuesday. The university said law enforcement officials confirmed that UCLA neuroscientist David Jentsch received a package at his home containing razor blades and a threatening note. No other details about the package or its contents were given by the university.
All we are saying, is give peace a chance!

ALF is a terrorist organization. It does NOT represent the majority of animal rights activists. The vast majority of animal rights activists, are peaceful, caring people, who believe that ALL sentient beings (human, and nonhuman) have a right to exist, and have happy lives.
ALF MUST be condemned completely, and fully prosecuted.

Thanks, Wesley. Reasonable people can disagree, about animal rights. And in a free society, we should debate this issue, to attempt to determine the truth. But violence has NO place in it. That’s an issue where there is no legitimate debate.

Has this action been claimed by the ALF or are the newspapers just throwing it at them? Because this doesn’t really sound ALF like…

Mikki: I”m afraid it sounds very ALF like to me. But ALF has claimed, according to the story, that it is the culprit. Since it is all anonymous terror cells, it is hard to know for sure.

Mikki, ALF doesn’t exactly have dues and a membership directory. The only real official ALFer is Jerry Vlasak, who runs the ALF “press office.” Even he weasels about being in ALF, insisting that he just posts these threats that somehow find their way to his door.
Pretty much if you say you’re in ALF (and do some property damage), you’re in ALF. Of course, doing so would be giving the FBI carte blanche to go after you and all your domestic terrorist buddies.

This was explicitly not an ALF action.
The CNN story quoted in this post states that this action was carried out by The Justice Department which differs from the ALF in that they condone the use of violence against those who exploit animals…the ALF does not.
The cause of confusion is no doubt attributable to the fact that the CNN article claims that the Animal Liberation Front posted a communique on their site. CNN should have said that the North American Animal Liberation Press Office (NAALPO) posted a communique on their…ALF naturally does not have a website. ALF and NAALPO and entirely separate entities which CNN appears to have confused.

It wasnt the ALF that did this, it was the Justice Department and i support them 100%, anyone that tortures innocent animals deserves to have this done to them, i know a lot of people support what the Justice Department did.
Animal research must end!!

Craig: So must misanthropy, because if animal research ends, a lot of human and animal suffering will go unalleviated. The sheer ignorance of the animal rights movement is astounding on this matter.
