Constitutional rights should not depend on the popularity of the liberty’s support, but it is good to know that solid majorities oppose the authoritarian order by the Obama Administration forcing Catholic  and other objecting organizations to have contraception, sterilization, and early abortifacients covered in their forced health insurance policies.  From the New York Times/CBS Poll:

73. Do you think health insurance plans for all employees should have to cover the full cost of birth control for their female employees, or should employers be able to opt out of covering that based on religious or moral objections?

Cover Birth Control: 40%  Allowed to Opt Out: 51%

74. What about for religiously affiliated employers, such as a hospital or university? Do you think their health insurance plans for all employees should have to cover the full cost of birth control for their female employees, or should they be able to opt out of covering that based on religious or moral objections?

Cover Birth Control: 37%  Allowed to Opt Out: 57%

Note, the poll question did not mention the forced sterilization and early abortifacient forced coverage, which might have made the majorities favoring opt out even larger.  And of course, that isn’t all.  This was a kitchen sink regulation.

Which brings up the real issue: The Feds do not—or should not—have the power to issue such a sweeping, nationwide order.  It is beyond the scope of limited government as envisioned by the Founders and established in the supreme law of the land, e.g., the Constitution.
