The intellectually incurious press is in full-obedience mode. If the president wants them to report – with straight faces – that Obama is going to snap his fingers and, using the same ideas he proposed before he took office, “create” 600,000 jobs, or save them, or something, well, that’s what they’ll do for him.

Hmmm…now this doesn’t add up: If Obama was making these proposals before he took office, but he’s now claiming (as he does nearly every day) that the Big Bush Mess He Inherited On [Insert-issue-here] Is Much Worse Than He’d Ever Imagined, then why would he be proposing the same dubious “solutions” he was offering before he stepped into the office? As Daffy Duck would say, “there’s sumthin’ amiss, here.”

The whole “save or create” line is beyond a flim-flam; it’s astonishing to me that anyone buys it, but people believe what they want to believe. I suppose at some point Mr. Obama will tell us that he has “saved or improved” millions of lives with his speech in Cairo. And who can argue with him?

I wonder how many jobs President Bush “saved or created” as president. How many lives he “saved or improved.”

Never will I forget, not ever will I forget, that in 2005 -during an election campaign- the press put out the following fully bogus headline on a fully bogus report: “There Go 800,000 Jobs!”

I’m not the only one with a memory, though, and Frank Strategies spells it out pretty cleanly in this video, (H/T Ed Morrissey):

In yesterday’s totally unscientific poll, 48% of you said Obama knows precisely what he is doing with the economy. 40% said “he’s clueless.” I’m voting clueless, as well, because I can’t think anyone would deliberately sit around playing games with rhetoric while we’re looking at either a very long, very deep recession, or a depression.

Of course, I also have this nagging suspicion that perhaps the O-team simply refuses to admit that tax-cuts might help out, here, that cutting back on spending may be part of the answer. That would sound too much like Reaganomics, after all, and hey…when you’re working this hard to be a Messianic figure, you don’t want to end up looking like a shadow of a mere mortal, particularly one your side couldn’t stand.

The man is ignorant about history and about economics and he is soon to be the ruination of this nation! I don’t like him, I don’t trust him and I didn’t vote for him. Mexico is looking better and better every day.

I expect that our President will soon appoint a jobs czar. He will be responsible for polishing the mirrors and stoking the smudge pot. Got that from Twitter a while ago….sad but probably true. He can define the undefinable.

I think he’s actually both of the options from your poll. He THINKS he knows what he’s doing – wrecking the economy on purpose, in order to bring about a “socially just” state, whatever that means. He’s also clueless, in that he has NO idea of the magnitude of the pain that will be inflicted on the country in the attempt.

I don’t think that he is any more clue-full than our official Church teachings. The ones which say that everyone is entitled to food, and shelter, and clothing, and medical care, and an education, and to borrow money, whether they work or not, whether or not they do anything which anyone values enough to pay them for.

The reason that we are in the pickle that we are in is, fundamentally, that we have acted as if there is always an infinite supply of Other Peoples’ Money, and the only moral question which exists is how best to spend it.

Saved or created huh? So no matter what happens he makes it so he cannot be wrong. Notice he never tells how he determines a job was ’saved’? That’s because there is no way in Sam Hill of knowing, period.

What Obama needs to know is that his incompetence and cluelessness are costing real people, good people, their jobs and homes.

I have a friend, who you can read about here…Who is about to become homeless- he’s a former police officer, spent all his life helping others, now he can’t get a job at Wal-Mart. This is what makes me so dang angry, good people, who want nothing mote than to simply be able to work and pay their way, can’t do it.

This is a real person, someone I know, and it breaks my heart.

CathyF has touched upon something that has been bothering me too. It seems as if the Church is bordering on socialism, and I think that’s why Obama got the majority of the Catholic vote.

Non Catholics have pointed this out too, to our shame.

Obama knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. Silly people actually think his primary objective is for the economy to improve.

His primary goal is to exercise greater executive power over more and more of the private sector through executive fiat. Any positive impact on the economy is coincidental.

Blame the Jesuits. My wife attends a Jesuit-run university on her way to a doctorate, and she was required to read a book upon enrollment which was full of (literally) Marxist ideology and exhortations to do things like make an annual trip to the School of Americas to throw blood on its gates.

She has also been called on the carpet for expressing conservative views in class and basically told in no uncertain terms that she either mimic the Marxist “social justice” party line or they will throw her out on her behind.

Because of the nature of doctorate programs, she pretty much has no choice but to keep silent until she graduates. But we have stopped putting money in the offertory plate on Sundays and the day she graduates and they can no longer threaten her life’s work, hell will be raised. Be certain of it.
