Sonia Sotomayor: Apparently incurious intellectual, “Never Thought About” Rights of Unborn on Abortion.
This is a patent falsehood.
Not only is she (or at least at one time was) a Catholic, and no one in this country can avoid knowing that the Catholic Church has been defending human rights “from the moment of conception” forever, but in a couple of cases that came before her as judge, although they did not touch directly on abortion, they did involve it tangentally, including abortion funding and China’s coercive abortion policy, wherein the issue of the unborn was raised.

Anchoress: Good luck with the votes! Unlike the Iranian President, I don’t think you will have to stuff the ballots!
PS. After a couple years of reading your blog, I was inspired to sign up for a faith class at the nearby Catholic church. I am jazzed! Hugs.
[Let me know how that goes for you! Admin]

PS. Meant to add, I voted for you, too!

Wow, I can finally comment at the Anchoress! This is a first.
Anyway, all I wanted to say is to echo Bender’s assertion with regard to Sotomayor about your statement:
Sonia Sotomayor: Apparently incurious intellectual, “Never Thought About” Rights of Unborn on Abortion”. Gosh, I’m no intellectual, and I’ve thought about it.
But I also wanted to add that not just is Sotomayor’s statement a “patent falsehood,” so is your statement that you’re “no intellectual.” You’re more of one than you may want to admit (and I don’t mean that as an insult)!

I recall a fuss being made over President George W. Bush’s nominee to the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, nominee Miguel Estrada’s remark that he had not ever evaluated whether Roe v. Wade was rightly or wrongly decided. Democrats, already upset that the wrong kind of Hispanic might be put in line for a future Supreme Court nomination, cried foul and filibustered Estrada, killing his nomination.
Ms. Sotomayor’s nomination now puts the shoe on the other foot.
