On Friday, our assistant editor Kevin Staley-Joyce, once a junior fellow himself, posted a note about the magazine’s Junior Fellows program . I join him in commending to your attention the notice to the right and in asking older readers to forward it to any college senior or recent graduate who might be interested. It is a great opportunity for a young person who feels call to intellectual engagement in the public square, whether he (or she, of course) wants to go into publishing or go to grad school or do something else. The fellows will learn by doing, to an extent that I think is unusual in such programs, but we also try to teach the crafts of writing and editing as much as possible as well.
We are haunted — or at least I’m haunted — by the thought that the perfect candidate is studying at the East Bent Fork College of Bible and Barbecue or at Ginormous State University and will never hear about the fellowship because none of his professors read First Things . Please pass on the information.
