A last-minute addition to my travels near Boston:
I mentioned last week that I’ll be giving a poetry reading on Saturday, March 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Jabberwocky Bookshop , 50 Water Street, Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Some Readers of First Things in Wellesley saw the announcement and asked if I could come over later that day to speak about Catholic Culture in America . And how could I pass up the opportunity?
The talk, followed by a question-and-answer session, will be Saturday, March 14th, at 7:00 p.m., in the social hall (lower level) at St. John the Evangelist , 9 Glen Road, Wellesley, Massachusetts. I’m told that’s out Washington Street/Route 16, near the Newton-Wellesley line.
So if you’re up around Boston on March 14, come outeither for the poetry at 3:00 in Newburyport or the talk on Catholic culture at 7:00 in Wellesley. Or come to both. I’m planning to.
While I have you, can I ask you something? I’ll be quick.
Twenty-five thousand people subscribe to First Things. Why can’t that be fifty thousand? Three million people read First Things online like you are right now. Why can’t that be four million?
Let’s stop saying “can’t.” Because it can. And your year-end gift of just $50, $100, or even $250 or more will make it possible.
How much would you give to introduce just one new person to First Things? What about ten people, or even a hundred? That’s the power of your charitable support.
