A curious mixture of reportage and religious pronouncement from the Shabelle Media Network, via The Worldwide Religious News (a aggregation service that I heartily recommend):

The Islamic administration in Dobley town have ordered the women in the town in Middle Jubba region to take veil to cover their bodies and follow the Sharia law, witnesses and officials said on Friday.

Not clear what the witnesses were witnessing to...

This order apparently reinforces an earlier directive, which, it would appear, had not been adequately heeded: “One of the Islamic administration officials in the town said that they warned to the women in the town to take it before 8 months ago....”

In any case, said official declared that “it was an order from Allah Subhana Wa ta’ala and proved it in the Holy Kuran.” Regrettably, if the official cited Surah or verse, the reporter, one Hassan Osman Abdi, did not document that Koranic support.

One suspects, however, that the presence or absence of said references are not really in view, since Mr. Abdi goes on to paraphase (not quote) the “Administration” that “the people” had better come to terms with servile obedience to the “Sharia law,” since “it was an obligation which Allah had ordered to his slaves.”

Got that, slaves?

And we conservatives think that our media allows its bias to come through.
