A Spanish reader wrote a furious rebuttal to an old post about the growing antipathy Spaniards show towards Jews. I argued that as Spain became less Christian, it also became more hostile to Jews, and tha the Spanish left hates Jews for the same reason it hates Christianity.

The Spanish reader took offense. I reproduce our correspondence below. My replies are given in italics. The Spanish parts are translated.

In regard to your article of why Spaniards hate jews, you indicate that is because the same reason they hate cristians. This is a lie and outragous. I would like to condemn the fact that you as a jew want to censur the spaniards and still lie about us and cover your country (Israel) of the genocides you are comitting... and still want to critize the europeans to shut up? We will never shut up, we are not under your control, you bastard. I am a spaniard in USA.

Le agredezco sus pensamientos profundos así como la nobilidad de su forma de expresión. Más que nada me alegre que ha dejado su país, para que proceda mas rápido su inevitable despoblación.

(I thank you for your profound thoughts as well as the high tone in which you express them. But most of all I am happy that you have left your country, thus accelerating its inevitable depopulation).

(Your sarcasm is absurd; it neither moves nor convince me. As far as the “inevitable depopulation” to which you refer, if you are saying that people have to emigrate because Spain is in crisis, I don’t agree; the whole world is in crisis. I didn’t leave my country because I am being persecuted or because there is poverty; I chose to come here and have been here for twenty years of my own free will.)

The real question here and what bothers me is that organizations such as ADL, etc and yourself spend so much time and effort in pinpointing people or countries who do not necessarily agree with israles’ ideologies and masacres to consequently demonize them and critize them with lies and boicot.

This is America, a country based on Christian values and with freedom of speech, not Judeo-israeli values, Israels’ objectives are not ours (USA’s).

Oh, come on. The Spanish trashheap is awaiting collection. Their fertility is 1.3 per woman, their attendance at mass is negligible, their national cinema a repository of S&M pornography, their national music a Spanish-lyrcs version of Eurovision elevator music. Nor, in their hedonism and self-absorption, will they bother to breed. It’s too bad. Ethnologists found after World War II that the last people to sing the old Romances with their authentic melodies were eldery Jews in North Africa. A few Jewish scholars will be left to make sense of the history, while the dying pagans of this generation blink in incomprehension.

How dare you question the survival of Spain and our people and culture?
We have survived all kinds of invasions and wars, famine, and bottlenecks in human evolution, look at the basques, the true  European survivors, without any help from USA, unlike your people.  We will survive in the future as well, you should not cherish or be happy of low birth rates, and do not worry, we will not disappear as a race.

Our country is ours cause we fought for it and was not given to us by others...

You being the descendant of what appears to be Sephardic jews who  probably escaped or were expelled to Greece or Turkey or Germany (since you speak german), Are you not proud of being part of Spain’s  amazing history regardless of what the inquisition or kings did not  only to jews but also to muslims, etc? I think you should.

Spanien uber alles.

My ancestors (the bin Shushan family) founded the second synagogue in Toledo. I have no record of them, except a marginal note in a 15th-century Hebrew manuscript stating that Spanish girls are easy.
