Alternet.org functions as the Mother Jones of the internet, providing Lefties with Lefty content. Fair enough.

But a recent article by Tana Geneva that gives a brief overview of the political and cultural view of Nevada GOP senate nominee Sharron Angle reflects an unfortunate tendency on the Left, which is to insist that people with whom they disagree are “extremists” whose views are “out of the mainstream.”

Sharron Angle is quite conservative, but what struck me was Geneva’s determination to label Angle’s view on abortion a “crazy stance. Angle’s view: life is sacred, and no abortion is justified, which means no abortion or women raped or victims of incest.

OK, that’s a firm, clear position. But “crazy” or “anti-choice extremism”? Last I checked the Catholic Church also rules out abortion in the case of rape and incest. Hum. There are a lot of Catholics in the world, outnumbering Lefty progressives by a wide, wide margin.

So, who, objectively viewed, is the extremist? Tana Geneva and her readers, or Sharon Angle?
