Former President Bill Clinton told Rep. Paul Ryan that he hoped the Democratic victory in NY 26 would not mean doing nothing.  Republicans pounced, as if the statement really boosted their hand.



But look at this clip.  Clinton is consistent in both.  The Ryan exchange is much ado about not a thing.



The real choice, as I have written, is between reforming Medicare to be sustainable based on democratic governance or behind closed doors by bureaucratic fiat.  And I do think the Democrats will Demagogue—heck, they won’t even produce a budget.  But Clinton is perfectly consistent when he states doing nothing is not an option and in expressing the view that the Ryan Plan is the wrong way to go.
