Here’s the link we can believe in for the Spacey Philosophy post below. It turns out to have been a ratings bomb at Big Think, because it was too philosophical in an insider postmodern conservative way.
Random point no. 2: Tell me why the Republican race isn’t Bachmann vs. Romney, with Michele (now K-Lo’s and NRO’s belle) having all the advantages. She gets the big mo’ from Iowa and Romney’s toast before the big blue states come into play. It’s actually a big deal that NRO is portraying her (with real evidence, after all) as the very model of pro-life feminism. I’m also noticing that all the Palin-ites out there in the heartland have switched to her. I’m still not for this: A Tea Party “regime change” referendum will lead to the president’s re-election. The welfare state needs to be downsized for demographic reasons etc., but it just ain’t true people are that happy about the inevitable new birth of freedom.
It would be great to have a viable third candidate, but we don’t right now. Rick Perry (who hasn’t done such a great job with Texas) ain’t the ticket.
While I have you, can I ask you something? I’ll be quick.
Twenty-five thousand people subscribe to First Things. Why can’t that be fifty thousand? Three million people read First Things online like you are right now. Why can’t that be four million?
Let’s stop saying “can’t.” Because it can. And your year-end gift of just $50, $100, or even $250 or more will make it possible.
How much would you give to introduce just one new person to First Things? What about ten people, or even a hundred? That’s the power of your charitable support.
