1.  Well I’m sorry that I won’t have Pawlenty to kick around anymore, but he ran a campaign that deserved to run aground.

2.  I’m looking forward to Peter’s treatment of Perry, at least partly because it will help relieve me of having to form my own opinion of the guy.  No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to care one way or the other about him.  Maybe I’ll watch a recording of his announcement speech tonight.  Maybe I’ll watch pro wrestling.  Maybe I’ll be able to tell the difference (little Bob Dole humor for ya - very little.)

3.  Ross Douthat thinks that this is Chris Christie’s moment to run for President.  Reihan Salam think Bobby Jindal would be better.  I think Salam has by far the stronger case, though Douthat makes a good point about Christie’s political appeal in a Democratic-leaning state.

4.  Run Bobby Run.   Now more than ever.

Dear Reader,

Your charitable support for First Things is urgently needed before July 1.

First Things is a proudly reader-supported enterprise. The gifts of readers like you— often of $50, $100, or $250—make articles like the one you just read possible.

This Spring Campaign—one of our two annual reader giving drives—comes at a pivotal season for America and the church. With your support, many more people will turn to First Things for thoughtful religious perspectives on pressing issues of politics, culture, and public life.

All thanks to you. Will you answer the call?
