Liberating Money

Not a movie I would have expected to see, but one that looks quite interesting: Holy Rollers , subtitled “The True Story of Card Counting Christians.” One of the young men interviewed in the trailer explains: “It doesn’t seem like one of the most noble things a person can do in the world, but at least we can liberate the money from the clutches of those who would use it for ill purposes.”

Here’s a New York Times  story that gives the background. And here’s the testimony of one of the Christian card counters, who now regrets doing it, though he’d done it partly so he could support his family while planting a church:  Confessions of a Christian Blackjack Player .

Thanks to Kamilla Ludwig for the lead.
