Nestled in a valley alongside the Appalachian ridge known as White Oak Mountain, Collegedale is home to some 4,600 people, most of them Seventh-day Adventists. Collegedale’s major gift to popular culture are the Little Debbie snack cakes shipped across America from its sprawling McKee Bakery. But as the town’s name suggests, its true raison d’etre is the local institution of higher learning, Southern College of Seventh-day Adventists.
