I always feel slightly smug and somewhat triumphant when I can use a semicolon. When I type and edit my emails, I tend to look for an opportunity to use one. Oh lovely semicolon, how you vex us!

Gareeth, I would have written that last sentence: “Oh how lovely is the semicolon; yet how it vexes us!” ;-)
